Before I went to bed on Christmas Eve, I decided to read Luke 2 since it was the holiday. I was reading throught the whole chapter...and then I got to verse 30, when Simeon had just seen the Christ child after a lifetime of waiting.
It was such a convicting passage, seeing Simeon's faith, that I got a huge inspiration to write...

My Eyes have Seen Salvation
Mine eyes saw thy salvation,
Beheld the glorious light;
The solitude departed-
I've found grace in your sight,
Though sending your Beloved
To die upon Death's tree
Was only for a wicked wretch-
You sent him still for me!
Now my eyes have seen salvation,
My eyes have seen the King;
I cannot hold back thankfulness,
My heart can only sing!
Your full unaltered mercy
Has put my mind at ease
Now, after seeing Jesus,
My heart has eternal peace.
Though many years in darkness
Had blinded me to truth,
So weakened by my sinfulness,
No discernment of what to do.
Then, I heard about a Saviour
Who washed my sin away,
My heart completely opened-
I now am fully saved!
For my eyes have seen salvation,
My eyes have seen the King;
I cannot hold back thankfulness,
My heart can only sing!
Your full unaltered mercy
Has put my mind at ease
Now, after seeing Jesus,
My heart has eternal peace.
From Jesus-he gave me peace.

Luke 2
28- Then took he[Simeon] he[Christ] up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29-Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30- For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
31- Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
32- A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people, Israel.
I know the second verse isn't totally metrically correct, but I was thinking of a melody different to that of the first verse. I don't know maybe there will be an opportunity to give it music someday.
Read the entire passage sometime! It is so SO true that you get different things out a Scripture passage each time you read it. =D
Piece,
~chris~
