Springtime

"Spring is bustin out all over,
All over the meadow and the hill.
Buds are busting out of bushes
And the rompin river pushes
Ev'ry little wheel that wheels beside a mill...

Spring is busting out all over
The feeling is gettin' so intense
That the young Virginia creepers
Have been huggin' the bejeebers
Out of all the morning glories on the fence,
Because it's SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!" =D

What can I say? I love spring time! Coming in a tie for first is summer, fall, and winter. I just love life and it's changes. By the way for those of you who read the post scratching your heads thinking, "Haven't I heard this before?" Well, I changed the text from the old song "It's June"... meh spring, June...whatever.

The end of March through most of April are some of my favorite times of the year to be outside in the Quadrangle at school. Around the semi-circle sidewalk stand 6 trees (what kind they are I am not sure...) that bloom whitish-very-light-pink flower buds about two weeks before the end of the month. As the days pass the colors become bolder and thicker, and though it's only a light color, more vibrant.

I was noticing this today while I was walking around during lunch. Within the next week winds will start to blow, and with each gust tiny petals each about the size of a nickel will snow down around you. This "snow" will then proceed to line the edges of not only the sidewalks in the middle of the Quadrangle but also extending to the ones near the outside, and dot the treaded middles.

All of this belongs to God, and even though just these six trees are such a small part of His creation, we can see His beauty reflected in these minor aspects in how he blesses us daily.
"How marvellous are the works of the Lord,
How excellent are his ways,
How glorious is His glory and fame ever the same,
Great is the name of the Lord."

Seeing how these trees are a mirror image of God, it made me think about how we as Christians are also and most importantly made in the His image. Genesis 1:27 says "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

We are placed on this earth as we have learned before to show Christ to others not only in word but also in deed. If we are to have a good testimony to the unsaved and show Christ to them, then shouldn't we reflect Him in EVERYTHING that we do? (For God's glory as well?) This includes ALL (yes all underlined bold etc.) that we do, say, believe, think, and condone. Our music standards, what we watch, where we go... I know you've probably heard this before but I know at least I'm not always thinking about this before I do anything.

May I propose something? Just as a challenge to yourself to help spritual growth, in everything that you do throughout the day continually ask not necessarily the famous question: "What Would Jesus Do?" but perhaps something else deeper that sometimes applies more... "Is what I am doing right now something that would reflect the image of Christ and who He is?" Jesus Christ is someone beautiful who is worthy of all holiness, who suffered beyond anything that we could ever imagine, so that wicked man could live on earth then enjoy heaven. How can we do anything BUT do our best to imatate and mirror Him????

I'm thankful for my Lord who is so beautiful and wonderful beyond anything that I'll ever be able to realize. =D Enjoy these spring days as especially we are reminded of the beauty of Him.

Until next time,

~chris~
